Fitness & Performance
Physical activity has a significant impact on one's health; however, it means something different to everyone. Health can be defined as the state of physical, mental, and social well-being. Physical activity can be defined as any movement of the body that is created by the contraction of skeletal muscles, resulting in the expenditure of energy.
The amount of physical activity needed can vary depending on one's goals. If an individual's goal is to improve overall health, then any form of physical activity would be beneficial. If the goal is to improve fitness, which is the ability to carry out routine physical tasks without undue fatigue, which is the measurement of how well physical tasks can be completed.
